Racing Go Karts: the stepping stone for racing enthusiasts

January 12th, 2010 | No Comments »

The racing go karts were firstly introduced in the United States in the year 1950. The first go kart was built by Mr. Art Ingels in California. The racing go karts are associated with the open- wheel racing like the Indy car and formula one racing.

Go karting is considered as a stepping stone for those drivers who desires to compete in the Indy car or formula one racing. Individuals can step up to the different upgraded versions of motor racing including the formula one and the Indy car racing, if they shows their talent and potential in the go karting.

However, go karting is not considered as a professional racing, as most of the people engage in racing go karts just for fun. The go karting has gained huge popularity around the globe in the past few years.

The go karts are made with chassis, transmission, motor, four tires and a seat. The chassis of the go kart should be stiff as well as flexible as it does not have a suspension. A stiffer and flexible chassis will allow the kart to have a good grip on the track and reduces the weight of the suspension. The chassis used for the kart can either be closed or open. The closed chassis will protect the driver in case if the kart rolls over.

The engines used in the racing go karts can be either two-stroke or four-stroke. The two-stroke engines are more powerful as they can up to thirty horsepower more than the four- stroke engines. The karts used in the sprint racing gain the speed up to 60mph, and the karts used in the endure race can gain speed up to 90 mph. The shifter karts use the manual transmission in order to bring out the complete performance of the engine. The shifter karts can reach speed up to 160 mph. Therefore, the shifter karts are used only in the upgraded versions of the motor racing scenario. This will help the drivers to get professional experience.

What makes a good fantasy card game?

Collectible Card Games (CCG) and Trading Card Games (TGC) are getting more and more common. The last decade has proved to be wonderful ten years for the card game industry. Lots of games have been produced.

But when there are lots of games, there are also more and more not-so-good games being published. The problem with most games today are two things:

First – and most common and actually the most severe problem – is that the games have complicated and difficult rules. Complex rule systems tend to drag games into long rule discussions instead of fun game play. Lacking fun and action, also means that the game soon will lose its power – and its players.

Complicated games are made, usually, by companies that don’t put enough work into the game developement. Instead, they focus on the commercial campaign, or the franchise – if the game is linked to one.

This adds many problems. First, of course, the game becomes difficult to get into. If tt’s hard for the player to understand the rules, it will take longer time for the players to actually start the game. Second, it adds confusion during game play. Confusion during game play leads to mistakes, and that draws the fun out from the game itself.

But worst is that the most complex games usually have drawbacks in their own rules, since they usually have contradicting rules or rules that are made just to counter other rules – rules for the rules sake.

The second big problem that many card games have is the design. Also here, complex design is not the best. On the contrary – even if it might look great on the first glance, complicated lay-out and design usually means that the game play is slowed down due to difficulties to find value indicators, rules and text. A cluttered design means a cluttered game.

Today, many game factories publish their crads with a simple Times New Roman font in hope that it is the most readable text they can produce. Where it might look good – and read well – in a newspaper printed on low quality paper, it is not necissarily the best choice for a card game.

Instead, it is usually better to go for a straight font, similar to Futura, Helvetica or Gill Sans. This might look boring during the work process – but usually you end up with a card that is much more readable in a quick look – and that is what we are after.

Card games today can reach from a few cards up to the hundreds! No one can keep track of 500 cards, so the cards needs to have a neat and proper layout that works as effectivly as the rules.

The new fantasy card game from Xemytica™, ”Fate of Heroes”, is one of these action-packed games that uses a minimalistic design that works very well together with the rules. Instead of a clutted lay-out, these cards are clean and easily read. All important rules and values are placed in the corners – as that is the place where it most easy to focus quickly on a game card.

Pictures and rule text are placed in the middle, and the rule text is carefully layouted using the Gill Sans font in bold, normal or italic – each for each own purpose! The bold is only used for value modifications, normal for rules and italic for flavor text.

A really great fantasy card game is made by a game company who understands that simplicity is the foundation for success, but a great fantasy card game is only created together with its players. The players are very important to fully understand what cards are good – and which are not.

When picking up your next card game, check extra carefully on how complex the rules and design are. Chances are that the game will just be that: complicated, and not fun.

Card games are supposed to be fun. So get yourself a great game – and have fun!

Variants of Klaverjassen, the famous Dutch card game

January 5th, 2010 | No Comments »
Posted by admin under Poker

Trough time different variants of the game Klaverjassen have been developed since especially in Holland, people play the game a little different in specific regions. The game is over 300 years old and has been played all over the Benelux. Today you can even play online Klaverjassen at various websites. Basically you can divide the variants of Klaverjassen into two subcategories, the Amsterdams Klaverjassen version and the Rotterdams Klaverjassen version. The big differences between these two variants have to do with the troeven, the power cards which are determined before each round.

With Amsterdams Klaverjassen a teammate can’t go over the troef of his partner when his partner has the highest troef on the table at the moment. With Klaverjassen it is also up to the left player of the dealer to decide which troef it will be during the round and has to play on that particular troef as well. This while with Rotterdams Klaverjassen usually a troef is being turned from the pile of cards which are not used during the game of klaverjassen namely the twos up to the sixes. These are shuffled and placed on a pile. Every round the top card is faced up and placed aside and then the players can state, starting left of the dealer, whether they would like to “play” or “pass”. If they decide to play on a particular color that color will be the troef for the remainder of that round. It can happen that everybody passes but then a second card is turned. If nobody plays on the second troef either then the dealer must shuffle the cards and deal again. Once the cards are dealt, a new troef must be faced up and everybody gets the chance to pass or play again. This is repeated until a round is played.

It happens that people play Klaverjassen and use a combination of Amsterdams Klaverjassen en Rotterdams Klaverjassen. If they do they usually draw a card and still the player left of the dealer has to play with that specific card. There are other variations of Klaverjassen and it basically depends on the company you’re in which variation is being used. They all look a lot alike so if you’re not familiar with one particular variation but know another variation of Klaverjassen, then you can still pick up the rules of the variation within a few games.

Are you Going To Come With The Right Cards Player?

Those were the exact words I heard within the first few months of playing poker. This is tough to admit but I want to hopefully prevent someone else from commiting the same mistakes I did. When I first started playing Texas Hold em poker I was in a egotistical mindset, especially after watching a few hot shot poker movies, and tournaments on T.V. I thought hey why not try my hand at poker. Sounds innocent right?

Wrong…

After being embarrassed at the poker table too many times with my opponents figuring out my sit poker strategy was bent. Heck even one night I didn’t even know what kind of hand I had when the time came to show everyone. Everyone at the table looked at me like I was a joke. I was missing that last card to make my full house, but the card never came and my chips were taken.

I lost $1,500 bucks off that wrong move. I left that night determined to figure out what went wrong. Weeks passed, and then one day I bumped into my cousin who plays Texas Hold’em for a living.

That day I started to develop a sit and go poker strategy but not from an average Joe’s playbook. My cousin a veteran poker bankroll builder had molded his professional poker tactics grinding it out hard in online sit-n-go tournaments. My cousin went from part time income to full time income, and so have I in just a matter of days!

The best part about learning how to play poker for a serious income is how easy the game becomes when you know all the angles in my sng strategy guide. Anyone can yield the results that I have, but most people don’t want to burn up thousands of dollars learning it the hard way. If you haven’t spent countless amounts of time, and money trying to discover pro poker tactics like I have then you could have an unfair advantage.

Really there is NO excuse for losing for fun that is just wrong, but many still do it every day. You don’t have to be a part of the dumb masses who get their disposable income taken right out from under their greedy but weak hands.

How To Start Your Own Poker Room

January 4th, 2010 | No Comments »
Posted by admin under Poker

How To Start Your Own Poker Room

This is a basic guide on how to start your own poker room. Many of the details change from state to state. This guide is being written mostly by what is required by the state of Montana for a poker game.

Assuming that it is legal to play poker in your state these are the basics to get started.

A location

Employees

Supplies

Complying with laws/regulations

Building & maintaining a player base

The first thing that is required is that you find a suitable location for your new poker room. This will need to be an establishment that has or can acquire licensing for a live poker game. In searching for a location there are a few things you should consider. If you would like a location with a lot of traffic you are most likely going to have to pay a premium price for the location, on the other hand if you are not worried about how much traffic a location has then it is likely that you will get a location for your card room at a much lower price.

One of the easiest parts of starting a poker room is getting the supplies. The basic supplies you are going to need are a poker table, poker chips and playing cards. You should probably think about investing in some other equipment such as a television since many times being able to watch a sporting event can make or break a poker game at times. If you are wondering where to purchase these items many online stores provide everything you will need at some very reasonable prices.

After you’ve found your location and acquired the supplies you will need it’s time to find some help to run your poker game. You are most likely going to need at least one poker dealer. This is also a major part of your poker game since the quality of a dealer can severely impact the amount of money you make from the rake. Another quality of an experienced dealer is that they can sometimes effect your player base. If a dealer has been dealing in the area for a long period of time it’s likely that they have developed a relationship with other poker players in the area as well and by simply employing certain dealers can bring poker players into your game.

Another type of card room employee that is many times over looked is house players. Almost every successful poker room in the world employs house players of one type or another. The reason for house players is to be able to start a poker game as soon as you get a customer and also to keep your poker game going when it becomes short handed. Many card rooms simply offer to put them into the game for free and split any winnings they may have or pay them an hourly wage. When looking for a good house player the general rule is that you want them to play tight and not to break any poker players. Their overall purpose is not to win money but to help keep your game going.

Before you open your doors and start running out to get poker players to play in your new poker room you need to make sure that you are complying with all of the regulations. Make sure that you and the location have all of the licensing in order and that all of your employees have the licensing they require to work for you without breaking any laws.

Now that everything is in order you need to start getting poker players to play in your new card room. This can be the most difficult part. One of the easiest things you can do is tell every single person you know that you are operating a poker room and let them know where it is. It’s very important to get the word out because if you have family, friends & associates that enjoy playing poker it’s very likely that they are going to come play in your poker game if they know about it, if they don’t know then they will most likely go to wherever they went to play poker before. It’s not a bad idea to spend some money on other marketing as well such as the newspaper, radio and television advertising.

Once yous start building your clientele it’s important to keep them happy and playing in your poker game. This is the downfall of many card rooms. When the players are in your establishment you need to make sure that they are getting great service at whatever it is they need. If they are hungry you should buy them food, if they want a drink get them a drink, if they want to know what movies are playing call the movie theater and find out for them etc. They should also be waited on in a timely manner to ensure they are happy. When you are in a service industry such as the poker business it’s very important to make sure you provide a better service than the competition.

Another great way to keep your clientele and also help your business is to start a mailing list. Once you have created a good mailing list you will find that it will most likely become your #1 and most effective marketing tool. Even if you need to add incentives to get people to sign up for your mailing list to get it going it should be worth it in the long run. It’s also important not to abuse players contact information as this will most likely annoy them and could even result in them not playing in your poker room.

Overall the poker industry is very competitive and if you do not enjoy the game or other poker players it is probably not the business for you to get into. Although if you enjoy poker, poker players and competing it can be a very enjoyable and lucrative business if you are successful.

Why Playing Card Shufflers are a Great Tool to Own

January 3rd, 2010 | No Comments »
Posted by admin under Poker

It may seem silly to you, but if you and your buddies play card games quite frequently, you might think about buying a playing card shuffler. Other than the bluntly obvious facts, there are plenty of reasons why avid card players should get one. The ultimate advantage is speed. Of course it’s also a great tool to have so that you don’t embarrss yourself with your under-par shuffling skills. Really, nobody has the patience for that. Here are the perks to having your very own automatic card shuffler.

1. First of all, it makes the transitions in between games and hands go much quicker. Quite frankly, waiting for the idiots who shuffle five times more than needed is down right annoying. An automatic card shuffler will have you playing again in no time.

2. Secondly, they shuffle the cards thoroughly. Believe it or not, these little machines are always reliable. You will never have to reshuffle again when you use one of these. Don’t you hate it when you have to shuffler again, after the jerk to your left messes it up. Let’s be real, not everyone is skilled with shuffling, your best bet is to get an automatic shuffler to get the job done consistently and in a timely matter.

3. Thirdly, you will never have to strain your wrists again. And another thing, you won’t have to embarrass yourself. Everyone is aware that most people shuffle in their own way. But really, some people just suck. Their silly ways are useless. Shuffling the right way will never be a difficult task with a playing card shuffler. And it’s definitely not embarrassing or hard to hit a button.

4. If you do happen to have poker tournaments frequently, you can make your basement feel like a real casino. Why not match your custom poker chips and playing cards? It will look great on that felted red Octagon poker table. Why not go all out right?

There’s nothing to point your nose up at, card shufflers are really a great tool. They make games go much faster, shuffling cards a lot easier, and the games more consistent and fair. Most peoples shuffle poorly and really don’t like having to do it. Trust me, you will be doing everyone a huge favor if you buy a Playing card shuffler.
